Community : Meaning : Mission

Jesus said to the religious leaders of his day that their spirituality was way too complicated…too many rules and hoops to jump through.  He said all the law and the prophets could be summed up in this statement: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.”

What that looks like at NorthCreek:

Community (aka “hang out”):

NorthCreek is a safe place to explore Christianity, grow in your faith, and meet people just like you! Hanging out at church on Sundays with other Christians for encouragement, worship, and celebration is the best thing you’ll do in your week!

Different size groups meet throughout the week too.  It’s a great way to get to know people!

Meaning (aka “connect with God”):

What does it mean to “follow Jesus”?  Like he’s in a car or something?  Kinda.  Following Jesus means we allow him to be in the driver's seat in our lives. So, how do you find meaning in your life?  By being intentional about reading the Bible, praying, and connecting with other Christians. It’s a great road to be on!

Mission (aka “discover what you’ve been created to do”):

We are never more like Jesus than when we are serving.  Whether it’s serving inside the church, or outside the church, we are all about giving our lives away.  When we give our lives away, we enter God’s story by joining Him in his mission to redeem the world!

Our Vision

  • To send people on short-term missions trips and to adopt an entire community in a developing country.
  • To be instrumental in planting and establishing other churches in the Seattle area.
  • To partner with the community in service that demonstrates the love of God to meet the holistic needs of our community with our resources.
  • To identify, deploy, and empower leaders to be light in the community and servants in the church.

Our Style

One of the questions we get asked at NorthCreek is where we stand on all sorts of theological and social issues. Any of our staff would be happy to answer those questions, however, you will find we do have many different opinions.  NorthCreek has established theological "guardrails". Those guardrails are consistent with essential Christian beliefs (salvation, baptism, communion, etc), but offer enough width and freedom to believe different things within the guardrails. Therefore, we choose to KEEP THE MAIN THING THE MAIN THING!   Here's another way we explain our position:

In ESSENTIAL BELIEFS — we have unity. Salvation, baptism, Christ's return, the Lord's Supper, are all Christian essentials. There is one Body and one Spirit…one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all. Ephesians 4:4-6

In NON-ESSENTIAL BELIEFS — we have liberty.
“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. So then each of us will give an account of himself to God…  So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.”  (Romans 14:1, 4, 12, 22)

IN ALL THINGS LOVE. Colossians 3:14 says, "And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony."

Therefore, we choose to have a humble theology (as opposed to proud or arrogant thinking that we have the only way to view life and the Bible). We choose to study and present the Bible as accurately and diligently as best as we can...humbly.
